Intercomp Tyre Durometer
This is an absolute must for the serious racer. The durometer allows you to immediately distinguish between good and “not so good” tyres when selecting them at the track or store.
Anyone who has been racing for a while would have received a dud tyre from time to time. This could be due to poor storage, age or simply the way it was transported whilst on its way to Australia.
The Durometer measures tyre “hardness”. Press the unit against the tyre for an instant measurement. The better the reading.....the better the grip.
Tyres are after all, the most critical part of the motorcycle. Don’t leave such a thing up to chance.
The surface of a tire becomes harder with every heat cycle and even new tires of the same compound can vary a great deal in hardness.If a tire is too soft for the track, it will overheat and may not last the entire race, but if it is too hard, it will not get up to the optimum temperature and traction will be sacrificed.
