Product Description
The current spring retainer on the new WP SX shocks leaves a lot to be desired.
Made of plastic and a two part system, the rigours of aggressive motocross and supercross seem to take their toll on the retainer.
Whilst we haven’t seen any break, they certainly show signs of stress and distortion.
The aftermarket has been quick to respond with more substantial, aluminium items but even these had us scratching our heads a little.
In order for them to be installed, the shock had to be taken apart which is a pain to the guy wanting to install one at home….plus they’re expensive.
We have had our own made up which solve the installation hassles as well as providing additional benefits.
The new retainers are locked in securely by engaging neatly on the recess in the stock clevis as well as providing a snug fit on the factory glide ring.
They can’t possibly uncouple when installed correctly. We have also made the bump rubber well a little deeper to limit distortion which will in turn offer greater bottoming resistance.
The colour combines with the stock cap colour to provide a more “Factory” look.
